What's New

Radio COTE rocked. Listen here.

RadioIn case you missed the incredible work of all the great playwrights, directors, and actors who came out to present brand new plays as part of Radio COTE: 24-hour Newsroom at The Secret Theatre this past Saturday, January 26, 2013, we've got you covered.

Before you listen, keep in mind: all plays were written, and produced, within 24 hours.

The parameters: all needed to include the standard "Marimba" iPhone ringtone, and all needed to be directly inspired by an article from the Friday, January 25, 2013 edition of The New York Times.

The results will surprise you. They certainly inspired & entertained all who were in attendance.

All the plays are available for streaming, and download, below. Enjoy!

Join us!

Dear Fellow Theatre Artists,

Co-Op Theatre East is ringing in 2013 with two of our favorite things: radio theatre, and forced deadlines.

We'd like to invite you to participate in...

Radio COTE: 24-Hour Newsroom

Just like a traditional 24-Hour Play Festival, participants will gather on the evening of Friday, January 25, 2013 at an as-yet-to-be-disclosed location. There, we will combine into groups comprised of one playwright, one director, and several actors, who will then be on a mission to create an original 10-minute play, to be performed live exactly 24 hours later.

Our twist? Because it's part of our Radio COTE series, these new works must:

   a) be radio plays, meant to be heard and not seen; and,
   b) fit the Radio COTE mission of "revisionist current events" — taking contemporary issues, and tweaking them slightly, to reveal an alternate world not far from (within reach of?) our own...

The live performance will take place at The Secret Theater's Little Theatre in Long Island City, Saturday, January 26 at 8pm; it'll also be recorded live, and available via podcast the next day. How's that for timely theatre?

Let us know that you'd like to be a part of Radio COTE: 24-Hour Newsroom as an Actor, Playwright, or Director by filling out this online form by MONDAY, JANUARY 14.
